USA Swimming Parent Tip of the Month   -

Build Self-Esteem and positive self-image - Learning about oneself while enjoying the sport is one of the most important aspects of swimming. The swimming environment encourages learning and fun, helping your child to develop a positive self-image. Athletes who find their self-worth through winning will go through tough times when they lose, and everyone, even Michael Phelps, will lose sometime!

 

Scenic City's Chattanooga Invitational - June 6-8 - Scenic City swimmer's please turn your entry form by Tuesday, May 27.  All Scenic City swimmers should participate!!  Come support the team!

May 10th Clinic at GPS 9:00-11:00 a.m. - Coach Jeremy Organ from Vanderbilt will be conducting a clinic at GPS for the CASL May 10th.  Scenic City is hosting this event and we need to provide some drinks and snacks - Looking for volunteers to bring food.  Email rdahlke1@bellsouth.net how you would like to help.

 

Johanna Gartman named newest & youngest member of Rock Creek Racing Team.  Johanna has been competing in Triathlons since age seven and is now one of the southeast's top female tri-athlete.  Johanna attended a select camp in Tuscaloosa, AL last month and will travel this summer to Arizona for an Elite Triathlon camp.  Triathlon is a family activity - This past weekend Johanna was 1st place Overall Female in the Scenic City Triathlon (not affiliated with our club), Mr. Gartman was 3rd place Overall masters, and Sarah Kate was 1st place in the 12 & under Run/Bike/Run.  

 

HSA Meet Results (May 3 & 4) - Another great meet for Scenic City swimmers!  Hollie Porter was the 8 & under girls High Point runner-up & Sadie Lett was the 11-12 girls High Point Runner-up.  Winning events at the meet were:  Ethan Bevill (8 & u boys 100 Free), Sadie Lett (11-12 girls 50 Free & 50 Breast), Kristen Myers (11-12 girls 100 Free, 50 Back, & 100 Fly),  Sean Ryan (Senior Boys 200 Free & 400 Free)

 

TYR Meet (May 16-18) Entry Form - due Tuesday, May 6 - 1st local Long Course Meet of the season!  Help Scenic City have a great meet by competing!

 

2nd session of Scenic City's Pre-Season Clinic for CASL swimmers will start May 5.  The 1st session has been a huge success.  Coach Corcoran, Coach Alice, Coach Brian, and Coach Ginny are enjoying working with the kids.  Get ready for a great 2nd session.

Jason Rogers shines at Special Olympics - Jason (Scenic City Green Group swimmer) came in first in 25 Meter Free, 2nd in 25 Meter Back & 25 Meter Breast, and 3rd in 50 Meter Free. Congratulations on a great meet Jason!

 

OLYMPIC TRIALS QUALIFYING TIME for Sean Ryan!!!  Sean finished off an amazing weekend by blasting at 15:52.35 in the 1500 Meter Free.
